Senior Prom at the Waters Edge Lodge

Dancing to Jim Franz Band, Waters Edge Lodge residents and their guests rocked the night away at their Senior Prom on June 13th.

Refreshments and hors d'oeuvre fueled the fun as the Jim and his band played tunes from the 40's, 50's, and 60's.  Dancers loved the live music and the enthusiastic encouragement of the crowd.

A Senior Prom photo booth and a silver and blue starry decor set the scene for a very memorable evening that was enjoyed by all. For one of our residents, it was the first Senior Prom she had ever attended.

Waters Edge Lodge residents enjoy live music every day as part of the Lodge's Activities program. Next on the special event agenda are plans for a community band performance and a Monte Carlo night.

Discover the Age of Champions

Age of Champions tells the story of five competitors who sprint, leap, and swim for gold at the National Senior Olympics. You'll meet a 100-year-old tennis champion, 86-year-old pole vaulter, and hard-hitting grandmothers who triumph over the limitations of age.

This PBS documentary is a powerful resource for senior advocates hoping to start a positive conversation about aging in their communities. The movie is available free on-line during its premier (April 18-April 28, 2013); to watch it, click here or the picture above. And please, feel free to share the link to the movie with others. Let's keep spreading the word!

Happy Easter!

One of our fearless hunters searching for the elusive egg.

Spring has come to Alameda Elder Communities, and we celebrated with the Annual Easter Egg Hunt! On Sunday, March 24, the families of our Residents and Staff came together for an afternoon of fun and entertainment at the Waters Edge Lodge. The Easter Bunny even made an early appearance as the official ribbon cutter for the event!

We "hop" everyone is enjoying the beginning of Spring!
