Diabetic Management Programs
Diabetes is a condition that makes it difficult for your body to turn the food that you eat into energy. When you eat, your body releases insulin, a hormone that helps convert the sugar from your food into energy. If your body does not make enough insulin, or if your body does not use the insulin well, sugar builds up in your blood and can cause damage to your nerves and blood vessels. High blood sugar can also lead to heart attack, stroke, or other serious health problems.
Both Elders Inn and Waters Edge Lodge offer a choice of diabetic management programs that allow diabetics of all levels, even insulin-dependent, to enjoy the amenities of assisted living while receiving services normally only available at a nursing home.
