Respite Care

If you are caring for an aging loved one and are in need of temporary assistance, consider a short-term stay at Waters Edge Lodge or Elders Inn, also known as Respite Care.

Respite Care is an ideal situation for family members or caregivers who are temporarily unable to care for their loved ones. Because caregivers and family members sometimes have other obligations, such vacations and business trips, we offer help in caring for the seniors in their lives. Respite care also offers seniors in need of extra assistance following a hospital stay or during an illness the help they need allowing them to recover in a beautiful and safe setting.  Many of our residents also begin their long-term stay with us after receiving Respite Care. Their short-term stay allows them an evaluation period of our facility before deciding if Assisted Living is the right choice for them.

What is Included in Standard Respite Care?

At Alameda Elder Communities, standard respite care includes all the amenities of assisted living at each specific facility, on a short term basis. At all AEC facilities this is a minimum of:

  • A room with private restroom,
  • 3 meals and 2 snacks daily,
  • Medication management,
  • Daily oversight by a licensed nurse,
  • Assistance with bathing,
  • Weekly housekeeping and linen service,
  • Participation in group exercise and wellness classes, and
  • Daily in-house entertainment and activities.

Different facilities have different additional amenities and services included.

How Long Can I Stay?

Standard respite care is for a minimum of one week and a maximum of 4 weeks. However, conversion to long term stay is available.

How Much Does Respite Care Cost?

Respite starts at $200 a day depending on the facility and level of care needed.
