Veterans Ball was a ball!

This past Friday, November 11, Waters Edge Lodge played host to the Veterans' Ball to honor all veterans. The ball, sponsored by Elders Village, was a roaring success! The evening started with the presentation of the colors by the Encinal High School ROTC and continued with music and dancing. The Jim Franz & Jan Nichols Band put on a wonderful performance that everyone enjoyed; the crowd danced the entire evening away. This was also the evening debut of the Memory Book (pictured above) that included the feelings and remembrances of several Residents of Waters Edge Lodge and Elders Inn. We would like to thank everyone involved for making it the success that it was, we appreciate you coming and honoring our local heroes. Fall Food Drive

AEC is proud to once again be hosting a fall food drive for the Alameda Food Bank. Please join our Staff and Residents as they gather non-perishable foods to be donated to Alameda Food Bank this month. There are donation barrels at Waters Edge Lodge on Harbor Bay and Elders Inn on Webster. Waters Edge Nursing Home does not have a barrel but is accepting donations at the front desk to be added to the drive.

Please help us in helping this organization that does so much for so many Alameda residents.

Thank you to All Veterans

Alameda Elder Communities would like to take a minute to thank all Veterans for their service to our country. Thank you!

This year, as a means of rememberance, several of the Residents of both Waters Edge Lodge on Harbor Bay and Elders Inn on Webster shared their memories of finding out about the bombing of Pearl Harbor and then of V-J Day. These memories have been combined into a book to help make sure future generations don't forget the dedication and service of those who have become known as the Greatest Generation.

Waters Edge Nursing Home to be leased by Alameda Hospital!

We are happy to announce that on Monday, November 7, 2011, the Board of Directors of Alameda Hospital District approved the lease for Water Edge Nursing Home. We at Alameda Elder Communities believe that this change in management will ensure that both the hospital and nursing home will continue to be able to serve seniors in Alameda for a long time to come.

Both Waters Edge and Alameda Hospital acknolwedge that Residents and Families may have questions about the upcoming change and community meetings have been scheduled for Residents, their Families, and the companies to discuss the coming changes. Residents and Families will be receiving letters with the dates, times, and locations about these meetings in the next week. If you as a family member of a Resident of Waters Edge Nursing Home have any questions about these meetings, please call Denise.
