Core Strengthening and Flexibility

A perfect way to ease into your week with a continuous movement class that focuses on lubricating and getting full range of motion of your joints. We isolate and strengthen the core muscles while sitting, then add weight bearing exercises to complete core strengthening while standing. We also use modified stretching inspired by different exercise disciplines.

Upper Body Strengthening

Upper body workouts are beneficial for loosening up tension in the chest, improving cardiovascular health and circulation . This class is geared for strengthening the upper body's major muscle groups such as our shoulders, back, arms, and chest using free weights.

Lower Body Strengthening

Maintenance of leg strength allows us ease and mobility as well as balance improvement, all important for preventing falls. This class focuses on hip and leg strength and flexibility including light intensity power training for the whole body. An increase in lower body strength is a definite boost for anyones quality of life.

Posture Class

This posture class uses thera-bands and light weights with minimal movements that are based on osteoporosis postural programs. Easy quick class that incorporates the habit of good posture in anyone's weekly routine.

Cycle Circuit

This is a hybrid class of focused breathing followed by a circuit involving upper and lower body cycling. This class moves continuously, switching the major muscle groups that are working in order to maintain our elevated heart rate for the class duration.

Walking Club

This activity is for perfect for those who like to be outside receiving some sun shine and breathing in fresh air. The beautiful lagoon located in our backyard provides a safe and nature filled walking path. In total the walk is about half a mile round trip, but there are 4 bench marks along the way that a lesser functioning resident may rest at if they tire, and we pick them up on the way back.

Wii Fit Balance

Wii Fit is a video game program made by Nintendo. Their balance games strengthen coordination between the mind and body as well as ankle strengthening. Studies show that playing Wii Fit games yields similar results as Tai Chi in balance and coordination.

Open Gym

This a free period where any resident can come into the fitness room and work independently on their specific goals whether it be for themselves or from a home exercise program made by a physical therapist upon being discharged. The fitness room has a home gym machine, mat table, and stationary bikes for cardiovascular health.
